KLEIB External Wall Insulation System

The KLEIB EWI System, certified under NSAI Agrément 19/0413, is a high-performance façade insulation solution for masonry and concrete buildings up to six storeys. It uses EPS or graphite EPS insulation, a reinforced basecoat with mesh, and durable acrylic or silicone renders to deliver long-term energy efficiency and weather protection. Installed by NSAI-approved contractors, the system achieves U-values as low as 0.21 W/m²K, with a design life over 30 years and full compliance with Irish Building Regulations.

Use

KLEIB External Insulation Systems are designed for external insulation of existing masonry or concrete dwellings.

  • Suitable for buildings up to 6 storeys (18m) in height.

  • Ideal for energy-efficient retrofitting and thermal performance improvement.

System Components
  • Insulation: Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) boards — white (λ=0.039 W/mK) or graphite-enhanced (λ=0.031 W/mK).

  • Adhesives: KLEIB C1, C2, C2 EXTRA, C2B (cement-based).

  • Base Coats: KLEIB C2 / C2 EXTRA / C2B.

  • Reinforcement: Standard fiberglass mesh (160 g/m²).

  • Finishes: Mineral, Acrylic, Silicate-Silicone, Silicone, Siloxane, or Mosaic renders.

  • Decorative Paints: Acrylic, Silicate, Silicone, or Siloxane top coats.

  • Fixings: ETAG 014-compliant anchors + stainless steel fixings for fire safety.

  • Ancillary Items: Beads, primers, sealants, starter tracks, and profiles.

Compliance
  • Certified under NSAI Agrément Certificate No. 19/0413.

  • Meets Irish Building Regulations (1997–2019) including:

    • Part A: Structure

    • Part B: Fire Safety

    • Part C: Resistance to Moisture

    • Part D: Materials & Workmanship

    • Part L: Conservation of Fuel & Energy

Fire classification: B-s1,d0 to C-s1,d0, suitable for multi-storey applications.

Fixings (Typical)
  • Combination of adhesive bonding and mechanical anchors (per ETAG 014).

  • Stainless steel fire fixings: minimum one per m² above two storeys.

  • Fire stops: lamella mineral wool, density 120 kg/m³, fixed at 400 mm centers.

  •

Performance Highlights

  • U-Value: As low as 0.21 W/m²K (depending on insulation type and thickness).

  • Impact Resistance: Classified up to Category I (high durability).

  • Lifespan: Minimum 30 years with regular inspection and maintenance.

  • Fire Barriers: Continuous lamella barriers at each floor level.

  • Condensation Control: Designed per BS 5250 and SR 54.

Installation

  • Installed by trained and NSAI-approved applicators (Carbon 2030 Energy Savings Ltd).

  • Includes project-specific design, site surveys, and method statements.

  • Installed only in suitable weather (5°C–25°C).

  • All joints sealed to prevent thermal bridging and water ingress.

  • Detailed render build-up ensures long-term weather protection.
