Weber.Therm XM & XP External Wall Insulation System

The Weber.Therm XM & XP systems by Saint-Gobain Weber are high-performance external wall insulation (EWI) solutions designed for concrete and masonry buildings up to six storeys. The systems provide improved thermal efficiency, fire safety, and weather protection using a combination of high-quality insulation boards, reinforced render layers, and durable decorative finishes. They are fully compliant with Irish Building Regulations and come with a 10-year materials and workmanship guarantee, offering a service life expectancy of over 30 years when properly installed and maintained.

Use:


External insulation for new and existing concrete or masonry buildings up to 6 storeys (18 m) in height.
Not assessed for use with timber or steel frame structures.

 

System Components:

  • Substrate preparation (cleaning, priming, and repairs)

  • Adhesive and/or mechanical fixings

  • Insulation boards: EPS (white or graphite), Mineral Wool, Phenolic (PHS), PIR

  • Basecoat: Cementitious with glass-fibre mesh reinforcement

  • Topcoat/Finish: Primer and decorative finish (synthetic, silicone, dry-dash, brick, or textured)

  • Alternative system: Polymer-modified one-coat render (XP)

  • Weather seals, beads, movement joints, and fire stops

Compliance:


Complies with Irish Building Regulations 1997 and subsequent revisions (Parts A–L):

  • Part A: Structure – adequate strength and stability

  • Part B: Fire Safety – Class O / B-s1,d0; mineral wool systems are non-combustible

  • Part C: Weather and moisture resistance

  • Part D: Materials and workmanship

  • Part L: Conservation of fuel and energy

 

Fixings (typical):

  • EPS (adhesive + mechanical): minimum 2 supplementary + 1 stainless-steel fire fixing per m²

  • Mechanically fixed (EPS, Mineral Wool, Phenolic, PIR): minimum 5 fixings per board (≈7/m²) + 1 stainless-steel fire fixing per m²

  • Fire fixings not required in two-storey single occupancy dwellings

  • Positive fixings required around all window and door openings

Guarantee:


10-year materials and workmanship guarantee from Saint-Gobain Weber Ltd., subject to approved installation and maintenance.

 

Installation:

  • Designed and specified by Weber for each project, including U-value and fixing design

  • Installation must be carried out by Weber-trained and NSAI-approved contractors

  • Apply between 5 °C and 30 °C; avoid freezing or rapid drying conditions

  • Fire stops, movement joints, and weather seals must follow Weber’s approved details

  • Design life: minimum 30 years, with regular maintenance and inspections
